Bubbles Up (OODA)© DUI-Donkeys Under the Influence® - JoyEful Party Animals® is another adventure with my model Josie the mini Sicilian donkey.

Why do I paint bubbles in many of my JoyEful Party Animals paintings?
There is lots of symbolism and messages in my paintings.

Bubbles represent important advice from my father.
Bubbles up!
He was a naval bomber pilot in the Korean conflict. During one of his missions he had to ditch his plane. It didn't go as planned. His engine caught fire and he still had 2 large bombs on the plane! Neither of the bombs exploded on impact into the ocean.
His training at the Naval Academy for the ditching procedure was to wait for the bubbles to clear, unlock safety belt and shoulder straps, grab the windscreen to pull yourself out of the aircraft. Follow the bubbles up to the surface.
It worked and he made it to the surface only to have the tail of the plane drag him back under the water. He had to go through the entire process again! His advice to me when I met some scary challenges was the training and advice that saved his life.
