This painting was part of an invitational exhibit curated the US Department of State, Art (AIE) program for US Ambassador Judy Reinke in the US Embassy of Montenegro. It is joined by three other JoyEful Party Animals.  The exhibit was 2019 - 2025.

Inspiration for Come Fly with Me.

One of four paintings in the JoyEful Party Animals® Huge International Adventure! “Come Fly with Me”© was painted from one of my own reference photos. This gorgeous great horned owl was at the end of my daily Pinnacle Peak hike in 2012. It was so exciting to be so close to her. Her yellow eyes, beautiful soft patterned feathers were gorgeous. The light was perfect! All I had was my cell phone camera. I knew I had to paint her! I started snapping away. I rushed away without getting the name of the caregiver or organization. 

About 10 years later, I ran into this owl again when I was researching for my series for my exhibit “The JoyEful Party Animals of the Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center”.  My guide for my photoshoot that took me around the SWCC to tell me about the animals turned out to be the same caretaker I met on the trail of Pinnacle Peak! 

I am honored to have the opportunity to have the beauty Arizona represented in this exciting destination of the US Embassy in Montenegro.
