This 9x12 oil painting on panel was a challenge! I had no idea how much work it takes to paint corn kernels! Each kernel had highlights, shadows and mid tones...depending on where it falls in the light source! Don’t get me started on he straw and burlap on the scarecrows. This painting was a challenge, but provided time to reflect on how thankful I am to have my life full of blessings!

#wip today's progress. Holy cow!!! Do you have any idea how many kernels there are on an ear of corn??? Each kernel has shadow, middle tone and highlights! (Not to mention the “in between values...yes that is a semi technical term...). Of course, depending where it falls in the light of the still life set up. “Deep thoughts”...opportunity to count my many blessings and opportunities this fall. “Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.” It is all a choice.

"Tails Telling A Tale" © "JoyEful Party Animals" TM finished! This 5'x6' oil painting commission was a fun challenge. The couple commissioning this painting had a story they want to portray and hang in their home. They felt the "JoyEful Party Animals" were the ones to "Tell their tale".
My college art professor and mentor Don Doxey told me if you wanted to really know someone, look at small everyday items surrounding them. What do they carry in their pockets or purse? That gives you a glimpse into their story.
I am honored to have these Tails Tell their story and celebrate life!
