I just finished this portrait. My friend, Santa had a twinkle in his eyes every time I saw him. He was very understanding of “us artist types”. We were having a little “Shop Talk” at an art show, last December. The light was perfect. I told him I just had to take some photos as we were talking. We continued our conversation and I snapped away!

He was a very special man. He was also known to many of us, as Ron. Santa Ron was a master custom frame and wood artist. This gentle, talented soul, passed away suddenly last April.
I had a series of the Santa Ron paintings started last February. I couldn’t bring myself to work on them until this past week. I needed to paint “a good guy” to remind myself of how many good people there are in our community and world.
He will be missed, but his memory and giving spirit is alive and continues to shine.
